Hello there everyone!! This blog is a little late I have to confess, just wanted to keep up traditions you see... So a quick round up would be virtually impossible, it really has been chocka-bloc since last week, amazing because you wake up early and get the whole day to properly enjoy it. So last update I hadn't done my skydive, so it was absolutely amazing and probably the best experience of my life, i wanted to do again and again after. The scariest bit was going up in this rickety old plane that barely looks capable of taking off nevermind getting 15,000 ft in the air. It was slightly disconcerting being given an oxygen mask at 10,000ft and being literally sat on a strangers lap, trying not to feel awkward when you're that close to some random man in the middle of the sky is a little difficult to say the least! I would recommend it to anyone at all it really was something else, indescribable even for me!
An awesome few days in Taupo were to follow, completed by the appearance of Briggsy(charlotte you will understand this) our bus driver, feeling somewhat ropey we headed to River Valley, wow. No really this place was out of this world(quite literally as it was in the middle of bloody nowhere), a lodge run by a family with 4 generations all still working there. Located 10 miles from any towns or mobile recception(yes this did nearly kill me before anyone says) this place was quite literally idyllic, we were given our own lodge room looking out to the mountains which was amazing. Riding and white water rafting were essentially the main activities there, and before you all say standard me going riding, I resisted the temptation and instead went white water rafting, not a quiet float down the river I can tell you, the Rangitikei is a grade 5 rafting river(apparently this is impressive we didn't take notice of this until we actually got down there) had an awesome guide- Derek, i'm not even going to begin to describe him he was that crazy. This is up there with the best things we did in NZ, it was so exhilirating, we didn't want to leave River valley however Wellington called and the weekend of the Rugby 7's was upon us...
A nightmare with accomodation and buses for the following day marred our first few hours in Wellington, however this together with the rain was NOT going to deter us from having a mad night for the final of the 7's, we were very lucky in that we were all( 6 of us!) able to stay with Josie's cousins who live just outside Wellington, we were literally like vultures when we arrived and saw food on the table, even had champagne-this genuinely seemed like a 5 star hotel-and we gorged on amazing food and drink for the whole weekend, the night was crazy, can't really describe it like one big street party, going out s hula girls in bikinis and grass skirts probably wasn't one of our finest ideas though... we ended up staying an extra day there as the thought of a double bed free food and accomodation was far too much to refuse. So in short that's the North Island round up, of course not everything is included but the way I ramble this could go on forever...keep looking out for South island news it's coming shortly(Sorry mum i know how eagerly you are awaiting the next blog!!!) Lots of love xxxx
