Hey everybody, Hope everyone is well. We are still in Germany-in Munich and enjoying everything German. We're going with the dot points again.....
* spent 3 days in Freiburg. was a great little uni town. We hired a bike to explore the city, went up to the mountains in a cable car (yes, we love our cable cars) and had our first taste of German beer and cuisine.
*then had a 7 hour train ride to fussen (7 changes as well thanks very much!), which is in central southern Germany. The main attraction of this place is the fairytale castle - Neuschwanstein. We had our first taste of crowds and only found out later that it had been a public holiday in Germany! Anyway, the castle was built by this mad King Ludwig the 2nd who had an obsession with building castles through Germany but this one is the most popular. Apparently the Disneyland castle is based on this castle. Wow. It was so amazing - the pictures speak for themselves!
*after spending 2 days in Fussen we hopped on the train to Munich. Have spent the last 3 days here....went on a sightseeing tour, went to a beer hall where Gerard convinced me to eat this massive shank of pork (i have to admit-it was pretty good) and went to the English Garden. The Garden is a massive park in the centre of Munich and we were quite shocked with the amount of people who felt that they had to take ALL their clothes off cos the sun had come out. It was quite entertaining actually and apparently this is a regular thing. We also watched a few people surfing this stationary wave caused by the fast flowing river- was so sick. Gerard and i were going to have a go but we didnt have our boards....damn. Today we went to Dachau concentration camp which was a very sobering experience. It was the first concentration camp built and 'officially' 30 000 people died there.
Tomorrow we make our way to prague and we are planning to stay there 4 nights which should be great
On a side note, Gerard just got his haircut.....he wanted a number 4, he got 4 mm! Loving the skinhead look. One of the problems of not speaking German .....oh well he wont have to get a haircut till the States.......or perhaps Manjimup!
catchya....
