Gutten tag!! ('hello' in German)
Hope everyone is well. We have been flat out- i seriously think my feet are about to fall off!
So quick recap of our travels over the last week and a bit. Gerard suggested that we write in point format (typical boy) but its an awesome idea cos there are so many other things we'd rather be doing with our time than spending hours doing this( no offense-just want to rub it in a bit more)
* last thursday left madeira for amsterdam on some budget dutch airline. the flight was pretty uneventful really (no screaming kids thankfully!)
* found our hotel which was pretty nice but a bit of a walk to the main centre and a MAJOR rip off-$170 for the tiniest room with a shared bathroom and toilet
*basically spent 4 nights there.....went to anne frank house which was awesome! really liked that. The friggin heineken experience was shut so gerard wasnt too happy bout that. we also hired a bike for half a day and cycled around the city which was really fun although our arses beg to differ! Also had pretty interesting experiences in the red light district....enough said.
*so we left 'ramsterdam'(name made up because it is just a really random place) and caught a bus at 7am to paris via brussels. It was an 8 hour trip but suprisingly pretty bearable
* got to paris and found out that there was a mistake with the hotel that we had booked ages ago (long story but we had credit with travel company so booked the hotel with that) so we were upgraded to another one which was sweet! certainly beat the 'brothel' hotel we had to put up with last time!
* had only 2 full days in paris and gerards mum and her two friends lynda and helen were there on a girls trip so it was great seeing them!
* first day- went to notre dame with the girls in the morning and had a beaut brie cheese baguette for lunch. walked around in the arvo and got the lift to the top of the eiffel tower. that night we had an AWESOME picnic at the grassed area right near the eiffel tower to see the lights come on with bottles of french champagne (thanks jean phillpe), cheeses and an array of all food french. Was one of the best experiences ever. Fantastic.
* the next day gerard and i walked to sacre cour (sp?) and went out for a 3 course french dinner (deer fillet, tourinne, duck) with gerards mum in a little cobble street that night.....again was a great experience
* and now we are sitting in our hostel in freiburg (southern germany). got here today via a train that went way too fast for my liking! this place is absolutely beautiful! it is known as the gateway to the black forest and so there is forest all around and beautiful cobblestone streets.
* here for 3 nights, then make our way across germany ...we really enjoy germany! the people are so nice!
anyway, ive spent too long on this thing......maybe dot points arent a good idea haha
take care xxoo
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MUMS!!
