After traveling for the past few weekends, our week after Lisbon was pretty relaxed.
Although we did have a lot of homework to do, the rest of the week was pretty easy. We spent our nights getting caught up on homework and enjoying the night weather. Its getting to the point in the year where the days are pretty hot and the nights are perfect. We've been walking around our neighborhood a lot at night and we even decided to take Paula with us one night. She doesnt get out too much so we thought it would be a good idea to let her roam around a bit. Spanish people dont normally walk their dogs on a leash so you kind of have to watch out but we made it through the walk without any fights.
Thursday night a group of us went out to Oxigeno. It had been awhile since Ginny and I went out in Caceres so we decided it would be a fun to go out. We met some of the girls in our group at the bar and stayed there for a few hours until we moved to a different bar. Although we didnt end up staying out too late it was still nice to see everyone and go out for a bit in Caceres.
Ginny and I decided that we wanted to be as productive as we could this weekend so we have been trying our best to get ready for not only classes next week but semana santa plans, class registration for the fall and summer, as well as planning our trip to Switzerland for the weekend after semana santa. We got up at a decent hour on friday and went into town to go to the post office and bus station. We bought our tickets for semana santa and switzerland and then headed home. We spent the rest of the afternoon getting caught up with family and friends and planning for switzerland. We are really excited about that trip. Our hostal is now booked and we also reserved a tour that goes throughout the city of zurich, then up an aerial cable car to the alps, fallowed by a boat ride around Lake Zurich. Should be a good time. Ginny and I decided to stay in friday night and enjoyed watching a movie that I had got from Chris in a package earlier that morning. We definitely had been missing good american cinema and it was a nice break from spanish to see a movie in English.
Saturday morning we were invited by Seans family to go with them to this old roman bridge and water dam about an hour away from Caceres. We drove out there with sean and his spanish dad and sister. We checked out the bridge and dam and were able to get some pictures in before heading back. We stopped in a pueblo on the way home to get a drink and then stop by this hotel that had a field full of stork nests. Kind of random, but an interesting place nonetheless. It was a nice afternoon trip and Ginny and I really appreciated how welcoming Seans family was!
The rest of the weekend is pretty open but I know we will be busy with getting things all ready for next week. I cant believe that my parents are going to be here in less than a week! Theres a lot to get done before we have a break from school for 10 days but I am incredibly excited for next week!
