Outlet shopping. Today we travelled to Camarillo which is north east of Santa Monica about an hours drive on the freeway.
Driving on the wrong side of the road is mental but so is being on the right hand side of the vehicle and not having a steering wheel! I found it difficult the other day not to turn the rear vision mirror toward me despite not being in control of the car.
Anyway - Americans do not get ripped off the way we do by "outlets". DFO will never be taken seriously again. We spent about 4 hours at Camarillo (Michele couldn't get the nanny for longer for the kids) and it's about 3 times the size of DFO...so we had to shop smart!
Bought some really nice stuff but didn't go too crazy (Steve would disagree) since we still have NYC & Vegas to go.
Came back home through the Santa Monica mountain ranges and via Malibu with the top down in the convertible! Awesome views and hair raisingly windy roads around the mountains - made for sports cars.
We saw as eagle during our decent and Michele was saying and mountain lions coyotes are common in these parts. I'd love to get out and do a trail run here - these are some mean looking hills!
Malibu gives new meaning to beach front living...high tides are practically at the front door. Most of the houses are raised but with our recent experiences of natural disasters in the southern hemisphere can't say the word "tsunami" didn't cross my mind! And California is on the San Andres fault is it not...recipe for disaster?
Tomorrow is our last day here for a few weeks as it's off to the snow Sunday. We plan to hire bikes and explore the Santa Monica pier and Venice beach.
Having a blast!
