So, there was no chance of me getting tickets to Comic Con but it doesn't mean I missed all the fun. Met a realistic looking Bender Robot and got to witness the Zombie Walk - Awesome!
Being near San Diego Bay is like looking at a giant game of battleship - every type of boat imaginable and the maratime museum is based on a tall ship, cruise ship and a submarine. The bay is fantastic and has some great shopping too!
I also managed to get cultured up in Balboa Park where I visited the San Diego Museum of Art and was disappointed by real life Georgia O'Keefe work and was impressed by the Museum of Photographic Arts although it was over priced. While I was stolling along and I managed to stumble on the Free Organ concert played on the giant outdoor organ and saw wedding dances (????) at the hall of nations. Very weird.
Pub Crawls are always appealing to me so when I saw that my hostel was hosting one I said 'Yes Please'. It was a shambles: most people were either underage or didn't drink, we had clues that would lead us to the next bar but usually described the pub we were already at and none of us knew any of the clues! We ended up at the marriott hotel bar on top of the hotel with beautiful views, a fire pit and over priced drinks. ($400/bottle if you wanted to sit down!!)
We ended the night at a Country bar for some Dancing - people were actually line dancing! I thought that was a myth. And they played all those songs that you hear on the radio that aren't quite rock or pop and turns out they're country! (and I still don't like them)
Hopefully heading to the zoo today and who knows where else...was hoping for some more beach time but I think the sun took personal offence to my burns and is off sulking somewhere that isn't San Diego.
xoxo
