Hey everyone- here's an update of my last two weeks in BsAs...
So Eddie cam to visit me this week (last sun night/monday morning until yesterday morning). His flight was scheduled to arrive at 1130 pm at the international airport but the morning of he notified me saying it was not arriving until 330 am and was stopping in brazil! so instead of being able to take the cheaper shuttle to the airport i had to call a cab to go out there at that hour. i waited for awhile until the arrival board said his flight was detoured. the information was that it was too foggy so they landed in montevideo, uruguay. they had no information and essentially told everyone to go home and try again later. i was very tired at this point (around 5 am)so i ended up coming home, taking a quick nap and waking up and calling the aiport. the woman told me that his flight arrived at 7 am to the other airport(it was 830 at this point) oops so i got in yet another cab and went to the other airport but luckily, for me not him, they sat in baggage claim before customs for about 2 hours so i ended up being right on time to pick him up.(he was in 4 countries in about 9 hours)
Note if anyone comes to visit argentina don't pack anything you want to keep in your checked bag- eddie's camera was stolen before he even got here.
anyway the first day going on little or no sleep i dragged him to my activity with the kids so he could see what i do. he doesnt speak spanish but i taught him a few basic math terms and numbers and he was able to help kids with exercises and ahd a good time.
the rest of the week we did touristy stuff around the city except on friday when we went to an estancia or gaucho ranch a few hours from the city. it was a wonderful day-trip. a bus picked us up downtown, took us to the ranch where we rode horses, etc., had a fabulous lunch and saw gaucho shows, dances, etc.
anyway overall we had a great/very busy week running all over buenos aires. :)
On June 2nd wesley and debbie will be coming to see me for about 10 days and we're planning on going up to iguazu, the famous waterfalls here, or rather at the border of argentina, paraguay, and brazil. im really looking forward to their visit!
lastly, i was promoted at work! i'm now the manager of coordinators and will be responsible for a lot more. im excited about it but also a bit sad because it probably means ill see my kids less and im hopelessly in love with several of them by this point. I didnt go on thursday and when i showed up yesterday they all attackekd me cause they missed me!
anyway i have a lot of photos to upload so as soon as my computer and this site stop being finicky ill post them....
love and besitos to all!
