K+K Travel Adventures
Well, I have been in Seattle only a week and am already desperate for some travelling adventures. I headed in search of mountains and peace and headed to Oak Harbor, WA which is on Whidbey Island. My mom is temporarily working here and I figure she deserved a visit from her gypsy daughter.
The first night my mom and I dined at a wonderful mexican restaurant overlooking the harbor. After our bellies were full we picked up a couple six-packs of beer and headed for the hot-tob. In our few hours of relaxation we were becoming slowly intoxicated and much more friendly. Of this friendliness resulted in introducing to ourselves to some random guy named Brad who proved to be your typical Californian. However, not all was wasted as he was able to spare some bud which always gives all a good time.
The next morning, my mom slept off her hangover. And when all was well, we headed out to explore the island. We found a small state park that was virtually deserted and discovered a trail that led down to the rocky beaches overlooking Victoria, B.C., and Port Angeles, WA. After a few hours of sunbathing we headed back in search of more beer and hot tubs.
Today was amazing! My mom and I signed up for a whale watching tour. Although, the tour started early and promised sightings of all whales we were skeptical. However, once on the ship, our excitement got the best of us as we traveled clear up to Victoria, B.C. for sightings of 44 Orcas (killer whales). We were amazed at these creatures and learned of some interesting facts and history about the surrounding areas. However, this was not the end, on our return home, we saw some gray whales, minke whales, dolphins, and eagle, and a s*** load of seals. All in all, it was a great experience and I would totally do it again!
Well, I better get to bed as I am leaving in the morning. I to head back to work unfortunately, although I wish I could become a professional whale watcher!
