Kasey Rae's Adventure Down Under 2006
What a beautiful way to start the day today! I got up at around 7:45 am to check the surf in my backyard. It was very placid and flat, but no worries cuz four dolphins were playing in the water (well obviously in the water, where else would they be). I watched them playing and slapping their flukes for like 15 minutes and then they moved south where they caught two waves. They were surfing!! Just like on the postcards. It was the most breathtaking thing I've seen I think.
How cool is that to fall out of bed walk to the "backyard' and see dolphins playing. I think I'm going to wake up every morning and either go running, which I did yesterday at 6:30am, or just do yoga and watch the dolphins.
After that we went to Byron to see if there was any surf there and there wasn't so Carlee and I went swimming. I did some fly and then we ran, literally, and caught the bus. Next was class in house 9 where we talked about the damage the aboriginals did to Australia 50,000 years ago and about the climate, etc.
Yesterday we had our first garden day. We spent the whole day in Mullimbimby, where Ralph lives, working on our permaculture garden/organic garden. After working with the banana circles, making organic fertlizer (with Chicken s***...really) and dodging the huge spiders we created our own gardens. Me, Nick, and Carlee have a garden with four raised rows and trenches in between. We planted rocket, basil, tomato (named tommy boy, lol), cucumber, zuccini, eggplant, parsley, japanese greens, and more. Very cool experience. I discovered my green thumb. I'm loving it.
Mom, Dad get ready for one I come back. I'm transforming the yards permaculture style.
Well gotta get going. I have lots of reading to do. Like five books! Craziness.
Love ya all,
Kasey
Ps. "Muriel's Wedding", horrible movie.
