Happiness Is The Road
We awoke and tentatively looked out of the window half expecting to be surrounded by angry birds! We weren't exactly surrounded but there were two birds loitering nearby. Luckily by the time we ventured out to the amenities block they had gone and we both returned showered and clean without incident. We had brekky and then hit the road back to Albany. It was dry but overcast when we left Mount Barker but soon after leaving rain started to come down. It didn't take long to get there but by the time we got to Woolworths in Albany the the rain was torrential and the wind had picked up blowing it in swathes across the car park. We dashed across the puddle splattered bitumen and into Woolies to stock up on food. When we emerged it was raining even heavier. There was no point trying to do anything in this weather so we just drove to a caravan park on the Albany coast. We checked in, got a nice quiet spot away from everyone else, and spent the rest of the day holed up in the camper just talking and laughing really. We didn't let the rain spoil our day and happiness. The rain and the wind didn't let up all day and by evening it just got worse. There was even a flash of lightning and one massive clap of thunder at one point. It was also very cold, down to about two degrees, so we snuggled under the covers and had an early night. We went to sleep to the sound of the rain, the wind and the angry ocean pounding the shore not too far away.
