Happiness Is The Road
Good morning campers! It's new years eve, a day which gets so hyped up. I've never liked all this new year nonsense. The next day is just like any other, it just happens to have a different number in the year that's all. Some people get so worked up and excited about it, it's quite frankly ridiculous. If you go out, it's always mad busy, very expensive and you can't get a taxi. It's a commercial money making machine. And then at midnight, what a stupid over the top fiasco some people make of it. I don't mind wishing family and friends all the best but the rest of it, forget it. Anyhow I digress, today apart from relaxing, reading and listening to music I went for a walk into Strathalbyn. It is a really lovely clean and beautiful town. It has a nice friendly vibe to it. There are some lovely little shops and a really beautiful park. Also there isn't a piece of litter any where. In fact compared to the UK Australia is relatively clean and litter free. It's so nice to see that people respect where they live. I went to bed at 10.
LAMP POST - STORY 6
This story goes back to 1986 when I went on holiday abroad for the first time without my mum and dad. I went with a lad I used to work with called Adam and I was 17. We went to Majorca. I don't remember a great deal about the holiday as my little mind I'm afraid was addled with alcohol most of the time. I partly remember happy hour with cheap sangrias, the cheesy hotel disco and a few girls but the memory that stands out most relates to a lamp post. One evening we had walked into the town, probably to get more drinks after happy hour in the hotel, and Adam who was into karate was just walking along and doing karate kicks into the air. Anyhow at one point he did a karate kick in the direction of a lamp post and the lamp went out. He can hardly have touched it but it went out. We didn't think much of it but then suddenly and out of nowhere a siren sounded and there was a blue flashing light. We had been busted by the cops. Their English wasn't good but they seemed to be implying that Adam had vandalised the lamp post. This wasn't true but they weren't up for negotiation. We were taken to the police station where our holiday rep was called. She seemed to sort it out. Adam got a verbal warning and that was it, luckily not a night in a police cell! There were no more karate kicks after that but still plenty of drinking!!!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
There is majesty in kindness, in compassion
In being good to a creature weaker than yourself
Embrace your majesty...be gentle
Speak carefully and love with your whole heart
Put beauty out into the world
Whether it comes back to you or not
