Happiness Is The Road
We had a lovely peaceful sleep and woke up refreshed. We had a quiet breakfast and then drove to Cape Buffon within the National Park for a walk. There was a lovely walk around the headland which we went on. The Southern Ocean was pounding against the shore and the scenery was majestic and dramatic. This was Jay's first sight of scenery like this and all along the walk she stopped and stood looking in awe at the beauty of this place. After the walk we hit the road and drove to Mount Gambier to find a Coles to do some food shopping. This was a big Coles and we even managed to find for the first time some bacon which didn't contain sugar! Whilst at Mount Gambier we went to find the Blue Lake on the edge of town. It was a simply amazing sight. The lake is a beautiful deep vivid blue. It's located in an extinct volcanic crater. It is thought to be up to 250 feet deep. From Mount Gambier we decided to drive to Port MacDonnell on the coast to find a place to stay. The drive there was great, particularly along the coast where the scenery was wonderful. We also saw a road sign warning of wombats, but no wombats were to be seen. The caravan park we found was great and we got a fantastic spot up against the dunes. This site is quirky and just the way I like them. We went for a walk along the beach and in the sea and then made another lovely sausage pasta for tea. We went to sleep to the sound of the ocean, very relaxing.
