Glamorama: London
Ok, so I'm back in London now, but I'll write chronologically anyways...
Today, we arrived in London. First, we went to our hotel, Claridge Hotel on the Champs-Elysee. We were all so excited to have big rooms and private bathrooms. Patty, Allison, and I requested a room together, and it was a lot of fun. The beds were big, and the shower was wonderful. Its really well designed...there is only a spray guard in the front, and the rest of it is open so you don't feel claustrophobic. Also, you can step back away from the water to later up, and then step into it to rinse off. Can you tell I miss having a big, private bathroom?
After a shower and lunch, we went on a boat tour of the Seine. It was rainy and cold out, so it was hard to get good pictures. I eventually switched to black and white because it was already so gray outside. We went up and down the entire Seine and saw a lot of Paris, but we were all so tired during the ride. Basia cancelled the other activities for the day and just took us to Galleries-Layfaytte instead.
Galleries-Layfaytte is a huge department store with both inexpensive and designer fashion. It was the first day of the sales, so the place was packed. It was also very hot, and the last place I wanted to be. After suffering there for awhile and appericiating the beautiful ceiling, we went back to the hotel and bought some groceries to make dinner.
We spent awhile sketching (we were assigned 5 pages a day of sketches of things which inspire us, since this trip is worth a credit). Then, we decided to go to sleep, since it had been a long trip.
