Had last breakfast in Prague hotel, finished packing, and waited for driver in lobby. He was a bit late, but Jan drove up and helped us put bags in car and we drove to Olomouc, a former Moravian capital on the way to Krakow. We spent two hours in Olomouc, a beautiful town with lots of interesting buildings and churches. Most fascinating was the astronomical clock which was redone in the 1950s, so instead of saints revolving or on the mosaic background, there are workers and other so-called common people (see photos). We had lunch at a Moravian restaurant and then drove on to Krakow. I dozed off and missed the crossing into Poland, but apparently, there's no border issue. We found our bed and breakfast in Krakow and, thankfully, Jan carried our bags up two flights of stairs. We are just a block from the square and the bed and breakfast is tucked away in a narrow courtyard. We walked around the big square as well as a smaller square, where there was some sort of fair. We stopped at a cafe for beer and then walked some more. We had dinner in a "nouveau" Polish restaurant -- salad and a huge platter of pirogis -- more than we could eat. Lee had cheesecake for dessert.
We walked down side streets and saw more churches, shops, and neat buildings and then walked back to bed and breakfast. Then I had to go back to the restaurant to retrieve my cell phone, which I had used to take a photo of the platter of pirogis.
