Day 3 Trekking
After a brilliant nights sleep well compared to the previous nights sleep I was up at 7am ready to go on our last day of trekking!
After breakfast we made our way to the Elephant camp and straight away we went for our Elephant ride. It was ok nothing to amazing - it was basically a seat attached to an elephant with a piece of rope across it. It was a little scary at points and all in all quite relaxing the elephant went into and along the river and then made its way back.
After the ride we jumped on the bamboo rafts and went for a cruise down the river, this was quite peaceful and we got talking to these two girls from America - Lindsey from Austin Texas and Adrian from San Diego.
Next up was ziplining - this I was expecting to be quite lame but was pleasantly surprised - we zoomed across the river at a decent pace and about 80 foot above the river.
Straight to the next activity which was the Elephant show. Although it was quite sad as to what these elephants had been trained to do it was also quite impressive - walking on two legs, handstands, dancing, kicking soccer balls, bowling and the list goes on and on.
Next was a buffet lunch for the 200-300 guests and wow what a feast they put on every kind of rice, salad, noodle, vegetable, spring roll etc known to mankind - Ofcourse I got too much ate myself sick and spent the rest of the afternoon regretting it.
After lunch we had to sit around and wait for someone to come pick us up. At about three o'clock this guy came and got us and walked us across the river and down to the rivers edge where a man on a big elephant was sitting. What happened next was the highlight of my trip to Thailand so far. The elephant kneels down and I jump on its back and then it precedes into the river, next thing I know the elephant is rolling in the water and trying to throw me off so I surf the side of it so I don't go into the river. It stands up and then dives into the water again all the time I am s***ting myself and wondering what the hell is happening and how lucky I am right now. The final time the elephant dives into the water and this time I am thrown into the running river with all my clothes on. So exhilerating, so unexpected, exactly why I travel - the smile could not be wiped from my face for the rest of the day. Not only was the whole tour incredibly cheap, there were a ton of surprises and never a dull moment.
We headed back to Chiang Mai and checked into our hostel where I spent the rest of the evening pondering where and what to do next.
