Another day in Punta Arenas with nothing to do except to try and sell my hiking equipment. Unfortunately the Internet was still out so I headed down to the mall to try and find a cafe where I could use there wifi. You wouldn't believe it but in the whole mall there was absolutely nowhere offering wifi and after 2 hours wondering around I found out this sad fact. I went back to the house to make some lunch and amazingly the Internet decided to start working again....

After not a lot of sleep I was up early as the other Couchsurfers had to catch a taxi at 5:30am and seen as I was sleeping in the living-room it was inevitable that I got woken up when they left. A relaxing and recovery day is on the cards for me today. After a bit of a sleep-in I started organizing my things, uploading photos and updating my blog. Fernando was sick today so he also stayed in and Mauricio took the Couchsurfers out to the Penguin colony. A bit of a loss in translation as I thought they were all heading out to the very expensive Magdallena Island to see the penguins when in fact they drove out to the park which was far cheaper and somewhere...

I had a really good sleep lastnight and didn't wake up once even with 20 people trudging through the house at all hours. I said my goodbyes around lunch time and walked out to the highway to attempt to Hitchhike back to Punta Arenas. After about 30 freezing minutes a lovely old Chilean couple pulled over and offered me a ride. they were so lovely and drove incredibly slow showing me all the different sites, towns and tourist sites on the way back to Punta Arenas....

The final day and the highlight hopefully of my 8 day and 150km trek around the Torres del Paine National Park. As I had to be up super early I woke at 2:30am and couldn't get back to sleep and so at 3:30 I was up eating breakfast, drinking hot chocolate and packing my backpack.
