So it was time to say goodbye to Riga and my friends Inese & Jolanta. Although the visit was short it was still more then enough time to taste some local cuisine, partake in some festivities, roadtrip across the whole country to the seaside and get a taste of how the Latvian culture differs from mine.
Inese was working so I went and visited her at her work; dropping the keys off and thanking her kindly for her hospitality.
My bus to Tallinn was at 12pm and wow finally a good bus with spacious seats, two floors, toilet and water fountain. I have been riding some rough buses of late so it was certainly a welcome change! The bus trip was good but the weather was horrid - we arrived over 40 minutes early which in most circumstances would be good but unfortunately I am not meeting my CS Hosts Lotte & Henry until 7:30pm which means a 4 hour wait!
I have 4 days here in Estonia which is probably a bit too long to spend all the time in Tallinn so maybe I will do a day trip somewhere.
Can't help but think about my trip to Thailand in just over two weeks and the warm temperatures that will greet me as I get off the plane!
So after a little bit of confusion and walking up and down streets in the freezing cold I made it to my CS Hosts place.
They are very welcoming and immediately fetch me a cup of tea and then bring out dinner for me: beef stroganoff with potatoes/chips, with gherkins and tomatoes on the side. Unbelievable I know they are not only kind enough to give me a place to stay but dinner as well! When I am met with such generosity which happens all the time I can't help but want to be more generous and giving myself!
What a great start to my 4 days in Estonia - can't wait to see what tommorow will bring!
