This morning I had a little sleep-in as we had been out late lastnight! I did my yoga had some lunch and waited for Paola to finish class. I also took the time to work out an itinerary for Colombia, major towns, beaches and places to visit. In the afternoon I went for a wonder around the town and checked out the Fruiteria and got a heap of fruit and vegetables for less then $2, I also visited a small supermarket and picked up some Salchacha - a stick of meat similar to ham that I had tasted on my first day here. In the evening I once again tried the freezing cold shower and oh my god it was almost painful - it was actually worse then yesterday's, how these people manage to have cold showers every day I do not know. At about 8pm all of Paola's friends, sister and partners arrived and we headed off to another dancing club called Tomalles. I couldn't be bothered to be honest but was forced to come along anyway, the club was quite flash and we were given a table and a bottle of Rum. With the rum came free mixers, chips, fruit etc- I didn't want to drink but was told the first round and cheers was for me - so how could I say know. We held our glasses high looked each other in the eyes (superstition here) and made welcome my visit to Colombia. It wasn't long before we were up dancing to Reggaeton and the local music. The girls tried there hardest to teach me the Maranga and Salsa and have me moving my hips - I tried and tried. Every time I sat I was pulled back to the dance floor. Oh and they dance very close here like rubbing up against each other close, which is fine but when their boyfriends are looking I can't help but feel its not right. Everyone dances with everyone and although the dancing may appear sexual it really isn't it. The reason I fell in love with Spain is shining through in Colombian culture- people just having fun, drinking moderately, having a laugh and enjoying their precious time on this earth. Another bottle was ordered - this time aguardiente the local liquor but I wasn't feeling the best in the stomach so I had to politely keep refusing it. By 1:30am I was ready to go home so I went with Lina and her boyfriend back to the house - I was to walk but was told it really wasn't safe so to taxi. They were so kind to take me back and even get me into the house before saying farewell in there very limited English. This is an image that is now burnt in my mind of Colombia - small city, incredibly kind people that feel like family, great music and lots of fun.
