Today I was unfortunately woken up early again by Vivi's Aunty at 4am - not that I am complaining they have been ever so kind hosting me. So I got up did my exercises and ate breakfast with Vivi's parents who were also up super early. At 8:30am Vivi and I headed to the bus stop said our goodbyes and I boarded the first bus to Tunja. The ride was quite hectic, fast cornering and erratic breaking - amazingly we made the 3 hour journey in 2. From the bus station in Tunja I walked to Paola's house but unfortunately couldn't get anyone to answer: I then had to try find Internet, get her phone number and then borrow a phone to call her. After a few minor difficulties we met ad wow Paola is an absolute ball of energy. We hung out and I met lots of Paola's friends. In the afternoon we walked around the city and my first impressions were good- very colonial town with loads of unique people, places and things. It is very cold here and the place I am staying is a big house with about 15 people living in it, sharing amenities and unfortunately only cold water. I therefor had to have a freezing cold shower and my god it was cold, it is one thing to have a cold shower when in a hot climate, but when already cold it is hell haha. The only way we appreciate the small things in life is to go without every now and then. I hung out with two of Paola's friends until about 8:30pm and then we headed down to the university to meet Paola and go to the reggae bar. I was freezing cold and it had started to rain - so when we arrived at the upstairs bar I took the first hour trying to warm myself up - 1 shirt, sweater and 2 jackets. The girls were hilarious and were up on the tiny dance floor dancing and egging me on to join, problem being I was cold, tired and a little embarrassed as everyone here (guys and girls) can move their hips and dance really well. I met some more English speakers from Paola's university - an American girl, a Jamaican and an English guy - it was very nice to have few conversations in English. After I had warmed up and every single person in the club was dancing I decided it was my time to learn to dance - Colombian/Reggaeton style. Amazingly I hadn't forgotten how to dance and as reggae is my favorite music and with the girls help I was dancing Colombian style in minutes - they were all shocked haha! One Colombian guy came over with a shot of the local aguardiente for me just to welcome me which was nice as I hadn't had a drink and it certainly gave me some more energy. It's crazy here it's like everyone dances well, drinks more moderately and just wants to laugh, we spent half the night dancing and the other half being silly - what an amazing night and more like the Colombia I imagined. When we arrived home Paola's sister was asleep in what was to be my bed - so ever so kindly Paola gave up her bed and sleapt with her sister - that is the kind of generosity you see here. I had mentioned to the girls my upcoming birthday and they had insisted I spend it here with them :)
