The heat lastnight was beyond describable and even with the window open I absolutely cooked and barely managed to close my eyes all night. We had to be up early anyways as we were off hiking today with two of Khris's friends. At 8am we caught a bus into the city and met the two friends- one could speak some, one could not but they were both lovely girls. We took a bus about an hour out of the city to this little sanctuary. The first part of the hike involved climbing to a church at the top of this hill, the problem being by 9:30am it was already 40+ degrees and we all absolutely sweated our boxes off. We made it to the top early and there was a nice little church and a good view of the headland and the ocean. The next part of the hike involved hiking back down the hill, up again and into the jungle where there was a famous archaeological site with ancient paintings drawn into the caves. We hiked quite a bit but luckily the sun had disappeared a bit and we didn't sweat so much. Really odd but I seen a huge water crab at the top of the hill - Dont know how to explain that and neither did any of the girls. At lunchtime we reached the caves and they were actually quiet impressive and the drawings were quite easy to workout, we took some photos and then sat and had lunch. As we sat for lunch I spotted two red-tipped monkeys frolicking in the trees above us, really wasn't expecting to see monkeys here so I am over the moon. There was a little bit of thunder and then some rain, actually quite refreshing as we walked back down the hill to the highway. When we got to the highway we had to wait for the bus which took over an hour, the trip back was also quite long and they absolutely crammed the bus full of people which made it even more unpleasant. When we got back to Khris's place I noticed the pool had been opened so I went and jumped in to cool myself off. Luckily the temperature started to drop and that killer heat has disappeared for another day. In the evening Khris's two friends came over as I had promised them to teach a yoga class, so we reserved the outdoor area near the pool and I taught the girls yoga for the next hour. They all really enjoyed it and had done a few times before - I get a huge amount of satisfaction out of inspiring people to maybe practice or take up yoga - the benefits it gives are undeniable and if I can help people see that then wonderful.
