A sleepless and cold night it was and I kept waking up so every time I did I ate more peanut butter. At 4:45am I got up and ate breakfast and had tent and stuff packed and ready to go by 6am. It was still dark so I had to use my headlamp to head straight through the woods and uphill - it was very muddy and steep to start. Within an hour I had reached the clearing and could make out the pass. I was the first one up here today as I could see there were no footprint...

This morning I woke up to no rain which was a pleasant surprise so i easily packed up my tent and had a late breakfast overlooking the lake and the hanging glacier. After taping up my blisters I left the campsite at 9:30am - feeling good. The first bit of the trek was uphill and exhausting - luckily I had some very scenic woodlands to pass through. At one mirador i got an exceptional view of hanging glacier and got some Spanish people to take a photo for me. Late...

I woke up to a very wet tent in the morning either from condensation or the heavy rain and wind we had all night - the main thing though I didn't freeze. I had some breakfast of granola and a hot chocolate at 6am then went back to bed. At 9am a guy came around wanting money for the tent site so I started packing my things and boiled some water fresh for my thermos in my tent. Up at 6:45am both nervous and excited, I packed my things again and had trouble fitting everything in and it was even heavier then before. By 9am I was ready and left Glorias; I walked to the mirador and the hitchhiking spot which unfortunately had Roadworks going on. Waking up in Gloria's house was a real treat; at about 6am my new friend the puppy was going crazy and biting, scratching and begging me to play with her. I did some final packing and then spent the morning hanging out with Glorias family. At 3pm I went to the Eratic Rock meeting - which last 1.5 hours and was very informative on everything Torres del Paine like.
