Having a big and fully stocked kitchen at my hosts is a real treat so I have been making some of my favorite breakfasts for us. Today I got up early and made Spanish Tortillas with a Bolivian twist: potato, onion and (yesterdays leftover) Chicharon: omelette. I then headed straight for the city to buy some things for trekking, book a tour and pick up a new camera. Like almost everyday the sun is out and the temperature perfect - typical of Spring which starts tomorrow. The traffic was crazy today and the bus ride in was long, when I arrived I headed straight for the tour company and tried to book my tour. Unfortunately the girl that I had talked to wasn't in until the afternoon so I decided I would come back later. I went to Electronica street - the famous street for everything electronic in Bolivia all without taxes and most likely all black market. I had worked out which camera I wanted it was just a matter of getting the price down a bit which I was able to do. So after having a little win with the camera I took off in an absolute maze of street markets which must stretch on for kilometers in search of some hiking gear and supplies. It took me hours and hours but I managed to get what I needed and then sat down for a late lunch of Bolivian avocado and boiled eggs. The Bolivian avocados have been terrible so far and it was nice to finally get a good one. I walked around a bit more, got a little lost then decided to head back to Nyzrah's place. Once again the traffic was mental and I had to stand along with about 30 other people on the bus, this city and its roads are seriously overcrowded it amazes me how people make it anywhere on time. I stopped by a local street market and picked up some fruits and vegetables for dinner- it was quite funny all the old women were rushing to me trying to get me buying from their stands. I brought a papaya and the lovely old lady chucked in some free bananas and they say that Bolivia is the most unfriendly country in South America. The rest of the plan this week depends on the weather which is not looking good - but the sun seems to be out most days so hopefully the forecasters have got it wrong.
