8.45 start, along the Stonethwaite Beck then following Greenup Gill valley gently up then steep climb all the way up to Greenup Edge. Very windy up on the top and continued to blow most of the way down the valley but the sun came out a bit. Long way to Grasmere, feeling a bit concerned that we may have bitten off a bit too much today - too late now! Stopped at the Lancrigg Hotel for a bowl of very expensive soup but it was delicious and lovely sat outside in the sunshine. Felt much more positive when we set off for Patterdale leaving Grasmere we started going uphill yet again along side Little Tongue Gill, nearing the top getting very hot and tired but all forgotten as we caught our first view of Grisedale Tarn. The wind picked up again while we were sat enjoying the view and it blew us senseless most of the way down! Arrived at our B & B just after 5.30 very tired but also proud of ourselves. 19.5 miles and two ascents of over 2000 feet.
