Left St Bees at 8.50, walked down beach to have a little paddle in the Irish Sea and pick up a pebble and then we were off. Lovely cliff walk to start off. Stopped in Cleator for lunch but the pub had closed down and long since disappeared so a slight diversion from our route to a very nice hotel. Back on the path to the top of Dent Fell where we had fabulous views of the Lakeland Hills, Isle of Man and miles of the coastline. Very steep descent then pretty walk ...

Train from Edinburgh via Carlisle, arrived at St Bees just after 2pm. Walk along beach then back into village for a drink and something to eat. Lovely evening, visited the little Priory church-very pretty.
