Up and off for a day of culture - Plans to cover several museums but only managed the Winter Palace of the 8th Bogd Khan. There was so much to see and the guide had a wealth of information. She only spoke Mongolian and Japanese so Ariun translated for us.The old building housed a wealth of marvelous appliqués, fabric paintings, statues, clothing, furniture, toys, artifacts and even a Royal Ger and carriage. The intricate work of the roofs, ceilings, door ways, andpainted decorations was a pleasure to see.
We took the medical books to their new home with the help of a young lad who is a volunteer at the centre and is studying anthropology as well as working on his English. The suitcase with wheels I used to transport the books from Australia was not much use through the streets of UB.
The trip to the country was arranged for Thursday so we stocked up with food as we planned to camp. Also had to pack up our gear so we could take what we did not need to Ariun's grandmother's place.
Another full day and yet again fell into bed for a solid night's sleep.
