Woke up to a beautiful morning today here in Munich. The hostel here is huge are really nice. Really feels more like a hotel. I've had a busy couple of days, lots of travel.
So my first train experience was interesting. I reserved a seat on a morning train from Roma to Venice the night before I was leaving. That morning I learned that the Italian train workers decided to strike that day and my morning train would not be leaving. Italians don't seem to like work much, it felt like no one really had a job. Fortunately I was able to catch one a little later.
Venice is such a confusing city and not real great for hosteling. I got lost for hours in the alleys there...really pretty exhausting. I was still tired from Rome and feeling a little homesick. All in all, I'm glad I only stayed one night.
The train ride to Munich was absolutely stunning. It was great to see the Italian countryside and Austria. Just hundreds of miles of mountains and lush countryside. Took some great pictures that I'll post soon. After being in Roma, it's funny to be in a place where people drive sanely. In Roma, they dont have lanes and crossing the street feels like attempted suicide. Here, its actually pretty organized and safe. I'm going on a free tour of the city here shortly, I'll let you know how it goes.
