It's been pointed out to me that I'm doing something odd with dates and times - the upshot is that there is sometimes more than one post for the same location and the same date. I think you can see them all in the pulldown menu underneath the location name in the blogs section. I'm not sure this site is the most user-friendly one I could have chosen - or it could be user error...
Nothing much to report from Aitutaki. I hired a bike today for the princely sum of $5 (about 2 quid) and cycled round the island. It's a small island, but everything still hurts! I'm not sure how much more I would have needed to pay to get working brakes and gears, and a front tyre with tread on, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
I was on quite a remote inland part of the island when I saw something big and colourful run down a hole. At first I thought it was a rat or a guinea pig or something, but after a I saw a couple more, I realised they were crabs - they were bloody huge! I'm glad that they were as scared of me as I was of them before I knew what they were.
As you can tell, a bit of slow news day - the sun is shining. everyone is smiling and happy, there doesn't seem to be any poverty - maybe this really is paradise. Last full day here tomorrow - I'm booked onto the lagoon cruise, hopefully the photos will be good, if and when I can find an internet connection fast enough to upload them I'll share them.
Kia orana!
