Merry Christmas everyone!
I'm writing this from a place called Orange which is a few hours from Sydney. Australia has been fantastic so far. We arrived in Melbourne and had a few days sightseeing and I spent my birthday night with some people we met at the hostel, following a comedy night. Was so amazed as I was asked for ID to get into a pub on my birthday - 31 years of age!! Pretty chuffed about that one...
Anyway, I decided to go on a day trip to Phillip Island where 100's of tiny penguins do an evening trek from the sea to their homes inland. We had beachside seats and they eventually all waddled past to go to sleep for the night. So CUTE!! They were only about 30cms tall and are the only ones in the world that are dark blue in colour.
Following on from Melbourne, we travelled up into the hills to the Blue Mountains. I would definitely recommend it here and we did some great walks to see the 3 sisters (down 800 steps) and got the steepest railway back up the side of the mountain. That was so mad and just about fell out!
Now we are in Orange with Lauren and her family. I will try and attach a couple of photos from Christmas day. I still cant upload from my camera but Lauren's dad has taken a few photos for us. I'll get there eventually and put them all onto disk which should be easier. Christmas day was unusually cold in Orange but we had a great day. We went to their neighbour's house for breakfast, bbq and then ate, drank and were merry - pretty much like home!
We are off to Sydney now for a few days up until new year - that should be so good!
Well I hope you all had a great Christmas and enjoy the new year whereever you are. Thank you for your e-cards and festive wishes.
Lotsalove, Jo xx
