Well we have arrived in New Zealand - and its cold!Â
What a difference from Alice Springs where it was 40 degrees and here its about 13 degrees!
We arrived in Christchurch, which is actually quite similar to christchuch back home and even has its own river Avon, and similar looking houses.
We left Christchuch and headed to Dunedin, which is celtic for Edingborough and has a scotish feel to the place. Its also very hilly here!
We met up with James' Auntie and went out for dinner and had Japanese, ive never had japanese and its was nice, James even ate raw fish sushi!!! Not sure exactly how much he enjoyed that! Meeting up with Diana was nice and she was really good to us and drove us around sight seeing.
The next day we went to the Otago Peninsular with the Elm tour (won lots of awards etc) which was great!
We first went to the end of the peninsular and looked for royal albotros birds, they have the wing span of 3 meters!
After that we went through farm land (had permission dont worry) and went on a long walk down the hills and came across rocks at the cliff edge next to the sea, and it was full of new zealand fur seals! they were so pritty playing around. There were rock pools and the seals pups were diving in and splashing around it was great to watch.
After that excitment we went back up the hill and over to the beach area, and saw sea lions on the beach, these were huge animals and were chasing each other and was great to watch.
After that we went to the edge of the beach and sat in bird hides and watched the yellow eyed penguins come out of the sea and waddle across the beach towards the grass. The yellow eyed penguins are the rarest penguin in the world and was great to see them. At this point it began to rain hard and we all got wet and muddy, espeically walking back up the hills and across the farm land. It was worth it though to see the seals and penguins. We were lucky as the tour we went with are the only company that is allowed on to the farm land therefore we were the only ones there with the seals on the beach.
Tomarrow we are travaling to Te Anau and I shall update again soon
