Hello everyone
sorry its been a while, i have been busy im afraid!
so we took a tour up from adelaide to take us up to alice springs which also stopped off over night in coper peedy. we drove and drove and drove for hours!! we left adelaide at 6am and got to cooper pedy at 6pm and we were only half way to alice!
cooper pedy is the mining capital in autralia for opals, we went on an opal mine tour which was nice, the locals also live underground in 'dug outs' from opal mining. we stayed in a backpackers which was also underground. strange place actually. it was nice and cool underground though and ohh yeah no flies!
the flies in the outback are the most anoying flies i have ever come across - they want to get in your mouth, in your eyes and ears and on your food! no buy spray seems to work either.
the following day we drove and drove and drove some more before arriving at alice springs. alice springs is also a strange place. its full of aborigionals standing outside KFC or mc donnalds and they stare at you. i wouldnt go out at night here thats for sure.
we went on an outback safari tour which was great fun! we drove to kings canyon - ohh another 6 hours, but it was worth it the canyon is lovely, we walked around it but it was so hot, 40 degrees.
that evening we got to our camp site at the aires rock resprt, and had a bbq and then slept in swags (aussie sleeping bags) and looked up at the stars - they were so clear, you could see the milky way, orion and the southern cross really well.
we woke up very early and left to watch the sun rise over uluru (aires rock) which was lovely watching the colours change on the rock. i deceided to do the base walk around uluru and james deceided to climb it! it looked way to steep to climb to me, also 45 people have died from falling off as its a drop strait down. he managed it in 1 hour 45 which is good, i would be still trying to climb up now if i tried (lol). its 1.6 km return which is quite far on a rock.
after that we went to kata juda and walked through the rocks and canyon which was also really nice.
the trip was really nice and it was worth coming here.
we fly from alice springs to sydney 2maro and then 1 more day left in oz before we fly to new zealand!
