We went over to Kangaroo Island and it was really worth it!
We went with Grovey Grape Getaways, which was great as it only took 13 people.
We had to travel for quite a distance to get to the ferry to take us across. The ferry ride was about an hour and i spent that time trying to look for dolphins, and how many did i see... not one.
lol, so then we drove through K.I. and walked up to the highest point on the island to get an amazing view of the surrounding area, its was lovely.
We then went to Seal bay, which i have to say was probably the highlight of the trip for me. We got taken to the beach by a ranger who gave us lots of information about the seals, and they were lovely. Some were just suning themselves, others were swiming around in the sea and jumping through the waves. It was really amazing to watch as they didnt seem bothered that you were there.
We also saw one naughty seal chase other seals around and sat on other seals and just basically was anoying everyone, then the other seals ganged up on him and chased him back in the sea. I could of stayed for hours and watched them it was amazing.
After that we went to little sahara, which actually looked like the sand dunes in the sahara i visited last year. It was really hot and we were walking through these dunes and you felt like lawrence of arabia.
Any way when we got to the top of the big hill, what did we do? SAND BOARDING!! wooo that was lots of fun, James really liked it and won the race between 3 other people, I dont know where he got the energy from as it was so tiring walking back up the dunes once you have gone down them, most people only did it a dew times, but James must of gone down 6 or 7 times at least!
After everyone was knackered we headed back to the bus, and james and I shared a sand board and went back down the hill towards the buses, which was lots of fun, except i fell off half way down!
After that... Yes we did even more in the day... we headed out to magnificent rocks (in the picture above) which was really lovely with really nice views.
After that we headed to admerals arch, which is on the beach in a cave where you can watch the sun set through the gaps in the cave, which was nice - well it could of been better if it wasnt couldy, but i got how nice it is and probably even better when its not cloudy. Ohh and there were black sealions on the rocks which were great to watch.
After that we were all exausted, and headed back to camp where we had an aussie BBQ and slept out in swags (aussie sleeping bags)
There were so much wildlife, lots and lots of kangaroos and rock walabys, as well as possums and pigmy possums which were cute. lots of birds of prey as well.
In the morning we got up early to see the sun rise and went on a hike through the flinders national park and ended up at a lovely beach, there was also caves and rocks you could climb on which was lots of fun.
In the afternoon we headed back to the ferry, but this time we came back by fishing boats, which were fun, and I got quite wet! Again i was searching for dolphins and yet again i didnt see any!!
The two days were amazing and it was well worth coming over to Kangaroo Island!
