SCUBA DIVING DAY!!!
Woke up nice and early for the free buffet breakfast (again so so yummy!). The bus picked us up from near our hotel at 8:30 - we boarded the bus at 9 after the driver went into the toilets to pull Nic out! After a short drive to the harbour we got on our aweeesome boat!
There were 2 dive stops but you could only do one of them. Because josh diving in a separate group he had to go first dive so we made our first enemies of the day when miranda, Nic and Chris politely asked the other family to go second. After a awkward silence they reluctantly agreed and we suited up. Nic went first then Miranda then Chris. Their dives were a one on one 20minute experience with an instructor so everything went swimmingly except Nic dribbling on surfacing and miranda being too light to sink with her weight belt. She was asked whether she had to run aroun in the shower to get wet! Josh dived a separate route and had to buddy up with a crazy Chinese girl! He got a longer one hour dive which gave her time to kick off his mask at 20m underwater and watch her destroy several hundred coral species with her flippers!
Upon surfacing you're not allowed to go back under to reduce risk of lung expansion so at the second stop we went surface snorkelling. Saw so many cool fish and coral but nearly got killed by evil rocks. Lunch was on the NICEST ISLAND EVER! it looked like the island from the tv programme lost and was completely unspoilt by tourists - we were the only boat there! To Miranda and nics delight they served up a huge seafood platter! Yay for them! After eating we were too burnt to go in the sun for a long time so went to extreme lengths for sun protection. Chris and Josh buried nic and Miranda in the sand waist deep whilst the other passengers stared at them with a confused expression! This is a look we have all become accustomed to during our travels! We like to think it's a sign of jealousy!
When they eventually told the speedboat was leaving to take us back to the main boat we decided we didn't want to be boring and get on it. Instead we made everyone watch and panic as we swam the kilometre back out to sea to the boat through a swarm of jellyfish!!! We survived and were returned to our hostel in one piece. To wash the salt off our bodies which was starting to give Josh shreddies (his family will understand his pain) we decided to jump in the hotel pool. Once again our quick dip turned into a three hour session as Miranda came up with the compliment game. We would take it in turns to hold two people's hands and lean back over the water. You then have to compliment the two people holding you and if they are not good enough compliments a finger would be released. Miranda was very hard to please! We then swam some individual medleys (or international medleys as Miranda calls them) before getting out and drying off.
Once again we consulted our guide book which we believe may be some sort of food bible because it led us to yet another AWESOME RESTAURANT! This time it was an Italian. The food was so good we ordered a second main course to share!!! The highlight of the meal though was the yoghurt fruit shakes!
