So the plan for today was to get up at 1030, shower and change, get a tuktuk to Tiger Temple around noon to be there at 1230...we got out of bed at 5:30pm!!! Here's why...
Since our last blog we had a beautiful 2 hour nap only minorly interrupted by Chris and Nic's photoshoot in the bottom bunk. When we woke up we were pleased to find Katie Pedri (one of Josh's good friends from home) and her friend Daisy outside our door! We grabbed a pizza with them for dinner and walked through the night markets. After being harassed several times we eventually gave in and decided to go to a "show". This involved: smoking p**** whistling p**** ping pong p**** bottle opening p**** drink pouring p**** balloon with dart popping p**** letter writing p**** ..you get the idea! No surprise the "theatre" was called Super p**** It was hilarious but we didn't pay the price so were thrown out 20minutes in!!!
After our incident here we decided to retreat back to our rooms armed with a few beers and the 6 of us played some really funny games including beer pong - definitely worth the last minute decision to carry the beer pong table 6000 miles across the globe! We then went to the biggest superclub in Thailand - INSOMNIA! 4 hours of shisha, popcorn and dancing later we returned to the hostel at 5am and said our goodnights to the girls. Typical us, rather than going to bed we got sidetracked for a mere two and a half hours in deep conversation. So, going to bed around 7:30am (after Nic threw Josh into a chair cutting his shin, lol?) it was no surprise we slept through our alarms!
We had to therefore come up with a plan B. When we eventually left our hostel around 7:15pm it was dark so we still havn't seen the daylight in a fair while! However, plan B was AMAZING! We decided to head to the few markets we hadn't visted yesterday including the biggest electrical market in Thailand (exciting for the boys, not so exciting for miranda!) and a huge wholesale fashion market (exciting for miranda, not so exciting for the boys!). We then headed to Thailand's tallest tower. Some interesting facts for you: The tower is 309m tall (not 3000m as Chris guessed making it the tallest building in the world by over 2000m). This is as tall as 182 people standing on top of eachother (not 900 as Chris guessed making each person 0.3m tall). The floor area is as large as 30 football pitches (not 250 as Chris guessed making each floor as large as three football pitches). Esentially, Chris is not very good at guessing. Through some dodgy discount which we didn't understand but were more than willing to accept (something about the time?!) we were able to afford an all-you-can-eat buffet near the top of the tower. we DEFINITELY got our money's worth!! Even Miranda whose appetite rarely extends to more than half a pizza managed to consume a solid 5 courses. She then got up in the restaurant and paraded around the table insisting we all feel her abs and non-existent biceps. They were abtastic. On our way out of the restaurant we came across our new favourite man - a magician who made Miranda's hand perform magic that she didn't know she was capable of. We then went to the top floor where there is a revolving observation deck and got a 360 degree view of the city at night - INCREDIBLE!
Our bartering skills are improving and we managed to blag a 30 minute tuktuk ride for only 50p each (down from $3) back to our hostel. We're not really sure what we've done since then to make the time go past except say goodbye to the girls who are off to full moon party tomorow, Nic and Josh did their daily press-ups and sit-ups while MIranda and Chris motivated them and occasionally sat on them, Miranda did some bicep curls and Chris did nothing. We all practiced Thai massages (without the happy ending!). It is now 4:30am and we havn't been to bed yet. We really don't know what clock we're trying to run by but it's not very practical...We're catching a train to Cambodia in 30mins which we will sleep on because when we arrive we want to look around the temples.
Much love to everyone back home again!
We miss you all
