Helllooo from Bangkok (or as chris spells it....bangcock - embarassing)
So as promised here is an update of what we've ben up to in the past 24 hours or so!
Flights to Mumbai weent smoothly. Arrived in Mumbai having not slept at all - watched films THE WHOLE WAY and challegened eachother on the who wants to be a millionaire games. Unfortunately had a REALLY REALLY hot curry in the airport before geting on our next flight to Bangkok but apparently missed a terrorist attack by a matter of hours.
After making several enemies on the plane our plan to sleep for the next 4 hours did not happen at all! And so, we arrive in Bangkok seeverely jetlagged but also incredibly excited!! THEN CAME THE HEAT!!!!! We sweated in places we didn't know existed. If you think we're joking - we're not. Josh thought it would be a great, cultural idea to walk through THE WHOLE of bangkok to our hostel. After walking 20 minutes and apparently getting further away from the hostel in the heat with our backpacks we gave in and jumped in a taxi. Seeing as josh promised us we were "a third of the way there" we were surprised that the taxi ride lasted about another 20minutes...
We arrive at our beautiful hostel where miranda exclaimed "IM IN LOVE" as she did for most things during the day including the receptionist and a monk child. Unfortunately our plans to have a little nap were destroyed because our room would not be ready until 2pm. It was 8am. Oh well we decided that carpe diiem was in order and dumped our bags to trot back out into downtown bangkok. The trotting was shortlived due to the heat and mirandas "gentle" suggestion to take the airconditioned sky train was gratefully recieved by all. 20p later we arrived at the ferry stop and took a boat up the river passing various temples on the way. Disembarking at the famous Koh San road we had lunch in a nice(ishhh) restuarant (50p a meal) where Nic and Josh almost died from their "no spice" curry. IT WAS SOOO HOT!!! MIranda made the restuarnat laugh by ordering only plain rice - apprently un heard of in thailiand. As nic and josh sweated away crying whilee nic stuffed napkins in his mouth chris silently sipped on his not so spicy soup (wetter).
After lunch we walked through the amulet market and went to the grand palace. To save money on the tuktukj we were asked to visit a shop and pretend to buy a suit. WE were there for half an hour and all got severely harrased. Men insited that miranda went to the toilete accompanied by only a large shop worker but nic insisted he come to the toilet instead and refused to let miranda out until he knocked on the door showeing the coast was clear. Escaping the tailors we madee a getawayt in the tuktuk to the grand palace. Fortunately the tuktuk only cost us 4 baht (about 8 pence). Totally worth the harrassment. Then THE MONSOON STRUCK! From bright sunshine to pouring rain in 10 seconds, Bangkok became the worlds largest waterpark and WE LOVED IT!! While locals ran for cover we climbed on lamposts and ran around the golden courtyard dancing for the rain gods never to stop. They did but we had our fun.
That brings us back to the hostel where we will now take a quick siesta seeing as we havnt slept in days. Later we're going to the night markets to contuining praciticng our bartering skills
Much Love to everyone back in sunny england
