Had to get up super early this morning to make it to our day cruise (0930...). Went and got bread and fruit for breakfast and caught the train into Sorrento. When we got to the boat we picked some deck chairs on the starboard side and settled in =)
Our first stop was the Island of Capri (We finally made it!). Really steep cliffs with some rather large palazzo's built into them. We got to have a swim off the boat which was really warm but still refreshing! The water is so clear here too! =)
After our swim I settled in with my Ipod and gave Milly a book to read for the next leg of our journey. Dropped some people of in the "romantic" town of Positano but we stayed on to go to Amalfi.
The town of Amalfi is pretty small and very touristy, packed with tours groups and souveneir shops... We had a nice leisurly walk up the main street to the top of the hill and had some really good melon and strawberry gelato =) I wouldn't really recommend staying in Amalfi, not that I did but it just doesn't seem like a nice place to stay.
After an hour and a half we headed back onto the ferry and sailed back off to Positano and picked up the rest of the people before heading back to Sorrento. I managed to get as red as a lobster even though I used sunblock =( =(
We'll be leaving Sorrento tomorrow so i'll leave you with a list of things to do if you ever visit this area!
- Stay at Seven hostel! Free Wifi + Breakfast, great rooms, facilities and friendly staff!
- Go to Ristorante Pizzeria Da Peppino in Sant' Agnello for dinner. Great tasting cheap pizza and very good service =)
- Book a day cruise instead of taking the normal ferry to Capri
- If you're sneaky you can do the circumvesuvia trains for free =P most stations don't have controlled gates and you validate your ticket yourself so it's very easy to just walk on =D
Will update tomorrow with news from Rome! =)
