Panama to Colon train, bus to Portobello
The Panama Canal Railway was also something I had done research on and definitely wanted to do. It only went once a day and left at like seven in the morning so I had to get an early start. It was no problem, I got there I got a great seat! Even though it may have been 10 times more expensive than the bus it was still definitely worth it, I got to see quite a few ships making the transit on the way through. When I got to Colon I could literally see the bus station but the cops would not let me walk saying it was too dangerous, so I hopped in a cab and he took me like 200 m and then overcharge me....... Weasels!
Hopped on the bus to Portobello and made it to Captain Jacks hostel where we would have the meet up later on tonight with the captain and skipper, Manfred and Petra all the guests on the boat Melanie, David, Steve and Christine all from England. James from the USA and Fabian and Carolina from Germany. Did a little meet and greet, gave the passports to the captain and had a few drinks.
