Parked the camper up in McDonalads so we could walk into the centre of Christchurch. Wasn't much going on, it felt like a little hill billy town. Saw the famous Christchurch Cathedral that was half demolished due to the earthquakes. Didn't really have enough time to explore Christchurch as we had to hand in the Campervan by 3pm. We took the camper to the petrol station to fill it up, ready to hand in. We were told to refill the gas if we used our gas stove, which we did, we used it everyday. Strangely, the gas bottle was still full and could not put anymore gas in, which was a result. As we only had $30 in cash left until we leave early hours next morning.
To give you the low down of how much we spent in New Zealand. Camper-van was $412 for 2 weeks. Which works out to roughly $35 a day each for transport and accommodation. We only paid $60 each in total for campsites.
Drove just over 2,000 km and spent $230 each in total for petrol. $400 for a return flight. So all in all approximately $1,100 each for travel and accommodation for a 2 week trip. Which equals to £600, but this doesn't include spending money or my bungee, but other than.
It would have cost $1,000 alone for a tour bus and on average $50 a night for a hostel.
