Hola,
Writing from Mexico again. From a place called San Christobal which wasn't recognised on the map, so I put Cancun. I am on the tour now, with Andy, Lauren and Tom, who we met in Asia, so it is a really cool group. There are other people on here too who are really nice, Gemma who has just finished a history degree from Cambridge, Josephone, a very blunt middle aged woman from Australia (Really funny) and 2 training tour leaders and our leader Amy. It is really nice cos everyone is up for a laugh and in a place where Coronas are 50 p it is nice to have people to enjoy them with.
Our tour started in Cancun, I was there for one night and then the next morning we left, which I was really glad about because it was not proper Mexico at all. The next day we travelled to Chichen Itsa, which is shown on the picture. It was aamzing to learn about the Mayan culture and the buildings are amazing. After that we went to Cenote caves, which were these open caves, full of fresh water, which was open to the public for swimming in. They were so amazing and they had jumps made for them.
The day after that we took a 9 hour bus journey to Pelanque. It was a place where there were Mayan settlements again, this time though they were different because the toltex hadn't influenced their buildings. It was cool again. After going round the ruins we went to this waterfall. It was amazing cos there were not many tourists, just Mexicans. Tom, Hayley and I climbed right up to the top of the waterfall, whcih is forbidden and all the Mexican guys were waiting for us with a rope and lifejacket incase we needed it.lol. That and the caves were probably my best fun in ages.
In the evening we went to this Mexican guys place for diner. It was so good, but he was a bit of an alcaholic. He put a massive bottle of Tequila on the table and said finish it. So, like true heroes, we did. It wasnt bad for tequila. The next day we travelled to San Christobel, which is where we are now. It is something like 2000 m up, so the altitude is quite bad. It is really cool here though, not as hot I mean. We got here in the afternoon and just slept pretty much. Last night we went to a restaurant where you can get 2 litre bottles of Corona, for 4 pounds. It was pretty flat though.
Anyway amigos, I will write again when i next get a chance. Look forward to seeing everyone. xxxxxxxxxxx
