Day 26 (16 of trip) = 26th November 2008 - Nha Trang
NhaTrang, on the south-central coast of Vietnam, described by the Lonely Planet guide as the "fun zone of Vietnam, the place for parties, adrenaline-junkies and sun worshippers".Well, we stepped off the train and it was peeing down, torrential south-east Asia style.Unfortunately it didn't stop for the whole time we were in Nah Trang.
I ventured around town, which seemed to be equipped for the beach, eating, drinking or diving. There was nothing to do in tropical down pours. After a day of pretty much aimless wandering, the evening was upon us and another birthday party, this time for Sophie.
After dinner and a few games of pool and a few buckets of cocktails at the Why Not Bar, we ended up going to ladies night at the swanky Sailing Club on the beach front.A few buckets more and my memory is blank… although from what I can fakeley remember and the hundreds of pictures of my camera, it was a top night!
Day 27 (17 of trip) = 27th November 2008 - Nha Trang, Vietnam
With a raining hangover and tropical downpour again, we headed off to the Thap Ba Hot Spring centre.Which turned out to be the world's best hangover cure, after a short bus ride (a few homes were left without phone lines whipped out of their sockets by our bus and careless bus driver) we arrived (in the rain).Firstly we jumped in a big bath and got covered from head to toe in mud, before having a hot spring rock shower, followed by a hot tub, then a natural hot spring waterfall and finally topped off by swimming in a swimming pool controlled to 37 degrees Celsius. It was like swimming in a mammoth bath (that never got cold).
In the evening we stocked up with Pringles and water and headed for our overnight train to Denang. This certainly wasn't a five star train.Even in first class, the beds had been slept in, food and junk was in the rooms and it was generally grim.Coupled with freezing cold air-con only blowing on my bunk, it didn't result in any sleep.Especially being tossed from my top bunk into a lump of metal half way through the night (I swore we hit something).
