So our first day mainly consisted of travelling. Travelling to and from airports, train stations and finally our hostel. A couple of delays occurred along the way but that was all out of our power!
The flight was long, as expected but reasonably comfortable. Staff were nice and the meals were ok too. Mel had a veggie option and managed to get hers before everyone else every time. Special treatment for special people! Ha..
For dinner Mel was given spicy rice, a salad bowl and some fruit. With juices, tea, coffee, wine or beer. I went for a white wine to complement my chicken.
After food we were left to our own devices (not that we could go anywhere) so basically chat or watch one of the inflight movies. I chose a film to waste the time. Well three in total!
Whilst in the air we watched the sun set and rise. Flew over some great places, most of which we could not see because it was night time. These places included Prague, around the Black Sea, over Afghanistan, down to India and across Burma, Thailand then Laos.
Arriving in Vietnam just before 7am. We got through the gates without any problems to pick our bags up and to find our driver. Mel spotted him pretty soon, then off we went to our Hostel- the May De Ville in Hanoi.
All in all the place is pretty nice and I'm happy with the room which cost £8 a night per person! Bargain!
