European Adventure 2017
The views as we travelled east from Frespach were beautiful. Wonderful countryside full of crops and little villages. We were heading for Domme which is classed as being one of the most beautiful villages in France by the Lonely Planet Guide. Known as a Bastide or a walled village it is perched up on a hill and was magnificent to see as we drove up the valley. Under the village there are various underground caverns full of stalactites and stalagmites and Mandy and I opted for the tour. The caverns took us 300 metres along and 20 metres deep under the village and were very beautiful. The commentary was in French so we didn't follow most of it but it was still lovely to see but unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos in there. The blokes found a pub with cold beer so they were happy. It is simply impossible to describe some of these places and so photos will have to do. About mid afternoon we headed off to La Roque Gageac, another of the several most beautiful villages according to The LPG. It was not very far away and was even more stunning as here the houses are built up into the rock. There is one area where the rock broke away in 1957 and fell down the hill taking with it a couple of houses and killing three people. A house two down from this area is for sale and I would suggest it has been and will be for quite some time. It is such a lovely spot we have decided to stop at the Aire which is right at the base of the cliff and bedside the river.....simply magic.

Tracey Kidd I am so jealous of your trip so far. The scenery is amazing. I was just looking at you all wearing shorts and T-shirts. There was an inch of snow in Oxford and Springfield this morning and snow to 200m on the peninsula tonight. We have our move back in date which is 18th July. Yeah to packing again! Our concrete is being pulled up at the moment and the new deck is half installed. Anyway, off to bed now so I'll catch up again in a few days. Have fun, eat and drink lots. :)
Jane You are bringing back very happy memories of holidays spent in this region, I always felt at home there somehow. X
