Ok I'm going to try to catch up on my blog before I leave again on my travels, the last week of term became manic so I didn't have time before I went to Hong Kong!
It was a while ago, but as far as I can remember, the rest of my exam week went pretty smoothly,
Friday 12th December
The day before, me and Rich had been asked to attend an English speaking competition to be judges. We tried to wangle our way out of it, but they had special invitations and weren't taking no for an answer…
It started at 7pm and since it was our last weekend in Yiyang for a while, we explained to the students we'd already made some plans and we were assured it would only last an hour.
After about two hours of speeches and one hour of some weird talent competition we finally got away! I hadn't eaten so I was starving and we went to grab some bbq and beer. It wasn't a late night because we were both drained by the unexpected long competition (we should've known better!)
For the rest of the weekend I mainly avoided the marking I should've been doing, it wasn't very eventful.
Monday 15th December
My last week of classes was a bit more exciting. I was busy in the evenings still avoiding my marking, but I had a Christmas party in each class! My students were very excited, especially the first years, and I bought them drinks, sweets, pass the parcel and taught them how to sing the Twelve Days of Christmas.
Everything got very rushed towards the end of the week. By Thursday I was still marking assignments. I also had to pack and I was going out for lunch on Friday with a Chinese English teacher before I left for Hong Kong later Friday afternoon!
I managed to get all my marking done and emailed late Thursday night, as well as taking a break to do my packing. By Friday morning I could just concentrate on my lectures, my lunch then getting on my train.
My lunch with the teacher was very nice, his English name is Panda. He took me to a fancy restaurant with a Christmas tree and we had a nice buffet. Afterwards he dropped me back at campus and I tracked down Rich for a milk tea before we headed our separate ways.
I left campus about 5pm and arrived at the train station in plenty of time. The train was running a little late so we were all lined up on the platform ready to go once the train arrived. As usual as soon at the train arrived it descended into chaos, but I managed to find my bed with the help of a friendly old lady. I settled down and read my book for a bit before getting an early night.
