Saturday 18th April
After an uneventful Friday, me and Rich woke up early on Saturday morning and met John near to Xiufeng park at about 8:30am. We went to the North bus station and took a bus to John's home town in the countryside, Nan Xian Mao Cao Jie Zhang. When we arrived we caught a taxi to John's house, which was apparently a motorbike made to look like a car. It was the slowest, funniest car I've ever been in haha. We said hello to John's family and then walked into town to buy some vegetables. I'm pretty sure the town stopped to stare at us, but I did a good job of ignoring it!
Back at John's house, me and Rich had a rest and drank some tea whilst John helped his mum with the cooking. The meal was really good, it was nice to have some home made Chinese food. It was a shame we could not talk to John's parents but he translated some things for us.
After lunch, we said goodbye to John's family and took a taxi to the centre of Nan Xian. This was a more modern town centre (as opposed to the small country town) and we met two of his friends and had some coffee. We were there just relaxing for a few hours then at tea time we went to meet John's brother-in-law at a restaurant. We had a very nice meal then went to KTV.
Boys decided to be boys and a strip club was mentioned... John was nice and stayed to look after me, his friends and Rich decided they would rather watch women than sing songs so we split up for a bit. At KTV we got a lot of attention. I didn't know who most of the people were so I followed John around a lot. Every time someone did a toast to me, he kept telling me "just a little!", I think maybe he should've taken some of his own advice. I met an English teacher who came to talk to me, but her English wasn't very good and John had to translate for her! When Rich and the others returned it was pretty late, so we all went to a BBQ restaurant.
After we ate it was very late so we went to try to find a hotel. We walked around for a while and then took a taxi to a hotel that John's friends had found for us. It was a bit dodgy, and only two beds, but at least it was somewhere to sleep, it was around 3am at this point. Being the girl, I got my own bed, Rich and John had to share haha! John went out for something and came back very wide eyed, apparently he'd gone into the wrong room on his way back and found a couple *ahem*. Hahahaha.
On Sunday we woke up WAY too early. We were all zombies and practically crawled onto a bus back to Yiyang. I got back to my apartment at 11am. I had a shower, ate some scrambled egg and bread, stocked up on caffeine and was ready to leave again by 12pm to be a judge in a speaking competition.
I got a phone call from Panda and he asked me to meet him in town. I took a taxi, met Panda and went into a hotel where the competition was being held. When I arrived I found out it was children, an there was fifty of them. I died a little inside.
In the end the competition wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I didn't have to do a speech and I was able to chat with panda through a lot of it. I was pretty fed up of spoilt Chinese only children by the end of it though, especially since most told me a mashed up version of "Three Little Pigs" or about their super happy family!!!!!
We finished about 7pm... I was so tired. I did nothing for the rest of the night.
