After breakfast yesterday I went for a walk into town. I walked around and up the walls, it was nice to get to know the town a bit better. I had quite a lazy day and stopped late afternoon for a burger (mushroom!) then I was bad and did some shopping... 108RMB for some jeans and a cardigan though is pretty good!
I met Jules, Jorn and Marianne for tea, they were some people I met in Kunming, and then we had the worst apple crumble ever! We didn't stay out late because they'd had a long day travelling so I went back to the hostel and read under the heat lamp!
A short while later Bacardi returned and she introduced her friend Kevin, a dutch guy who seemed pretty cool. It was lucky he was there because he was good at keeping her occupied, she had just had a phone call her her best friend had died after drink driving... I wasn't much help but it must be so hard being here.
We chatted for a while and watched Kevin on his new guitar and did some free shots for someone's birthday at midnight! We then had to move inside and be quiet although we did a bad job...
The birthday girl turned out to be Canadian Hannah and we talked with her and two Americans called Paul and Mike until eventually it got to 3:15am, only me, Bacardi and Kevin left, and we thought it was time to get some sleep!
This morning I was up early-ish and I showered and had breakfast and chatted to paul from the night before. Him and Hannah were going up the mountain, which was also my plan, and I was invited along. We had a late start, I went to move rooms and it turned out I could stay where I was woo! Bacardi moved out though because she'd arranged to stay with Kevin.
Once we were ready we had a chat with Dave the hostel guy and decided the best way to get up the mountain!! We found the ponies prestty easily and paid 40RMB for nearly an hour, it was very exciting :)
When we reached the top we looked at the temple quickly then went to a walk to a stream, which in itself wasn't so exciting but the walk was beautiful! It was all pine trees and reminded me of America.
On our way back we stopped for a fantastic sandwich with traditional Yunnan bread (like pita bread) and I had a cuppa! Then Hannah decided to catch the chair lift down the mountain and me and Paul saved money (and my nerves) and walked back down.
When we arrived back at the hostel we chilled on the internet, now I'm drinking coffee under the heater :) having a rest!
