Yesterday I got up early and caught my bus to Dali. It was the same bus as the Aussie girls who were going to Lijiang so we were able to share a taxi. The bus journey was quite long with a lunch stop along the way and the worst toilets I've seen so far, no door and 2ft walls!
When I arrived in Dali I got a taxi and found the hostel pretty easily. I'd been upgraded to a twin room for free because the dorm room was full of guys. The room was so nice!
Keri was ill so I went to explore the town by myself. I walked around looking for a post office then sat down at a cafe in the sunshine and planned my trip.
Once the sun went down I heard from Keri and met her and Steve at the hostel. I talked with her and another girl whilst their other halfs played pool then I noticed another girl going into my room so I went to say hi to my room mate. She was nice, a girl called Bacardi who was also a teacher in Chengde. She joined us and we all got some food then it god cold so Keri and the other girl went to bed and me and Bacardi went into town. We found a crazy club with everyone dancing on stage, lots of thumping music and smoke machines. At 11:30 some people left, candles were lit and slow music came on, the transition happened withing 5 mins it was so weird! Past everyone's bedtime I guess...
We got talking to a Chinese boat captain who I had met in Kunming. He was pretty friendly and bought us beer, but it took a lot of effort to get rid of him when we wanted to go home! He just seemed a little lonely but I'm sure we won't be calling him...
This morning I woke up, got clean, had a goood breakfast and booked my bus ticket :)
