Hey there everyone,
Just a quick update on our travelling escapades...
Having left Salvador on the smelliest bus imaginable (were sat next to toilet) we arrived an agonising 30 hours later in Rio de Janeiro... Went on a tour the following day into Tijuca national park, where we climbed 1250m to the top of a massive mountain to see breathtaking views of the entire city (Although the climb itself was capable of inducing a heart attack even in the healthiest of ppl)!
We then drove through the rainforrest in a 4 by 4 up to the Christo Redente statue which is a massive 38 metres high. The views over the city were amazing although taking your photo with the statue itself involved stumbling over too many excited American tourists!
We then moved on to Santa Teresa where we were taken for lunch in a posh restaurant. However, me and John having already made a packed lunch, opted out and ate on the cheap!
We then went to Lapa to see an amazing street which had been transformed by millions of tiles plastered to the steps and walls from over 150 countries in the world, and I should probably mention the crazy all singing all dancing man who resides there to entertain the tourists, although he may just have been a local drunk person!
Going to Ipanema beach today for a relax as we had a long walk artound the btanical gardens yesterday.
