Woke up very early due to the work last night. I can't quite sleep deep. Around 7am I walked downstairs to have my first bakery experience as an English speaker. I said merci when I paid and got a response as "thank you, bye bye now" lol and I only can pronunce croissant so far. Even I know there are pomme (apple) or chocolat (chocolate) bread right next to it. XD
Chill at home until 9am, did some research about Marais and how to get there. I took line 1 to Hotel de Ville and took some photos there. But then I keep walking, ended up at the opposite direction - Chatelet station around Centre Pompidou, when the stores are not open yet. I remembered there is the underground mall- Les Halles, keep window shopping. Discovered a gaint mall- full of looks like local people. Decent prices, but fashion trend looks like mainly black so I didn't buy anything.
Went to Starbucks again and bonjour/merci ...cashier talked back in english said thank you. Pretty much in this point I think I better off to take one station back to Saint-Paul, rather than getting lose on temping to find where is north or south toward Marais. Hopped on the train again, and when I get off at Saint-Paul (Le Marais), I tried to look at maps, confused, instead follow the group of people toward anywhere pretty much. Gladed I followed the right way. Marais has lots of little shops, on tiny streets. Really old fashioned looking area, have a lot of historial sights, and full of Jewish and falafel restaurant due to guidebooks and medias. I walked around all these cute shops, did not buy anything but I found Akteo watches! (updated: I found out they are no longer making them, and all the watches are left over. but i love them anyway- found another italy site that has almost the full collection: cehcestla) Brought my childhood memories back (the Seibu in Hong Kong used to sell them when I was like...4th grade)! I can't decided do I want to fulfill my childhood dream in the many styles watches. Didn't buy anything, but I took the nicest owner's business card. He is the first one in Paris speak back to me in English 'you are welcome'. I am sure will be back there sometime!
The streets go on and on, glad I found my way out back to the same station, but I know I just walked 1/2 of the whole Marais.
I was busy spend times to window shopping, so I didn't take any photos. You can check this video out by looking what Marais is about.
A lot of other shopping area waiting for me: link of Top shopping area.
Also useful things need to know about travel in France.
