Today was our last day in Prague! Over the last few days we have been eating, and shopping, and eating! So nothing new really :) the hostel in Prague that we've been staying in doesn't have a kitchen like some others we have stayed in, however, we have still managed to cook our beloved pasta in the kettle!
On Thursday it was really sunny so we went for a walk around the city. For lunch we stopped off at an underground restaurant and had goulash soup in a bread bowl! It was huge and very very tasty.
Yesterday we went shopping for school supplies and gifts for our co teachers in Georgia. Luckily, Prague is equipped with a Tesco and a Marks and Spencer so this was a relatively easy task!
Today we went to the zoo which was brilliant. We even got to see Polar Bears which were amazing! As the zoo was really big, we spent most of the day there.
And tomorrow we are off to Georgia!
Normally the volunteers joining the Georgia programme find out their location during the first week at orientation. They are usually also placed with host families who provide accommodation and food. However, our situation is a little different as one household can't accept two volunteers so joe and I have been looking for an apartment instead. The company TLG has been helping us find one in Tbilisi as this was the most likely place to find somewhere to live as its the capital and more developed than other parts of Georgia.
We had an email today from TLG letting us know that finding a cheap apartment in Tbilisi is quite a challenge but they have found us somewhere 15miles outside the capital instead. They have also given us the option to stay west of Georgia in a rare situation where a lady who lives alone is able to accommodate us both but not provide us with food. So, we have been trying to decide which option to take all day. Ideally, we want to save as much of our stipend as possible so we can use the remaining to travel to neibouring countries like Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and even the rest of Georgia. The place in the west is near the coast, warmer and cheaper but the other place is very close to Tbilisi! After much deliberation, we have decided to take the.............place west of Georgia near the coast! We won't disclose the name of the town yet in case it changes but fingers crossed it won't. Travel to Tbilisi might be a long 6 hour bus journey away, however it is extremely cheap to get there so would still be possible to visit at weekends.
So that's it, off we go! We have 7 days of 'orientation' when we arrive which includes Georgian language lessons, teaching methods and cultural training, most days will be 9-7 (holiday is definitely over!) however we do get fed 3 meals a day for free! Hooray :)
Sbohem for now!
