The sleep on the bus is very broken. I probably got about 3/4 hours though. We rock up into Airlie Beach shortly after 10am and head straight to the backpackers we are booked into, 'Magnums'. At the desk they apologise that we will be put into separate rooms. This is music to my ears. I'm getting quite sick of Sammie. It's a nice hostel. It's only $19 a night. It's very tropical. There is free wi-fi here top which is a bonus. I'm fed up of paying high prices for that. There is a wi-fi zone in the middle of the site. It's literally a few benches with a tin roof surrounded by tropical trees and strange noises. I see my first wild snake here too. It's only a small one. Probs about 2/3ft long. I wonder if it's venomous so I get a stick and play with it to find out. It doesn't strike the stick but it just seems a little bit annoyed. After a couple of minutes we go our separate ways. We get a bus to the local supermarket to get some essentials. It's so hot. I think the temperature peaks at 31 degrees. And it's not even sunny! Tis a mostly cloudy day. I eat a pasta and sauce for lunch. The kitchen is nice but appears to have an 'ant' problem. I suss out the washing machines which cost $3 a put a load in and another $3 for the tumble dryer. I could hang it outside but the wash mainly consists of my beloved Newcastle shirts so I'm not going to risk it. There an advert in the hostel to volunteer to do beach cleaning in a couple of nearby islands so we get ourselves onto that. Could be a good day out. We're getting picked up at 7:45am so early to bed tonight. We chat to some Norwegian dude who explains to us how fantastically financially stable Norway is, then go to bed. It's loud outside as there is a bar nearby and it's a Friday night. So I fall asleep with the aid of music again.
