I wake up real early absolutely freezing. There is air conditioning in the room but it makes it like a fridge. I have to put my jogging bottoms and hoody on to fall back to sleep. It's deceiving because the room is so cold then you step outside and it's like an oven! My alarm is set but I'm awake before it. Have brekkie then we go and meet a lady called Libby outside who drives us to the boat yard. There is a couple from the same resort helping out too. They are Germans. We head out on the boat. The journey takes about an hour to the destination. It's great seeing some of the many islands off this coast. It's dotted with them. All sizes. Some have human habitation, some not. We clean 3 beaches. All fairly near each other. There is a runway right next to one so planes occasionally fly overhead nearby which is quite spectacular. These beaches aren't used by humans. We are cleaning them for the good of local wildlife. After the first beach we have some cakey snacks and drink. The 3rd and last beach is interesting as we have to wear stinger suits to swim to it as its stinger season. Supposedly. Maybe it's not and they just wanted to make us look silly. I look silly but I love it. It saves me putting another dollop of sun cream on and it keeps me cool while collecting debris as its wet. I look like a giant smurf doing community service. After the 3rd beach we head back and have some lunch in the form of meat rolls. A couple of us sit on the front of the boat for the journey back. It's amazing. Laying back on the windscreen and taking in the views and fresh air. It's these boat journeys that make doing the work worthwhile. When us get back to the boat yard we have to unload and separate all the rubbish we have collected. Which is 35 bags full of 209 shoes, over 100kg of rope, over 1000 bottle tops, hundreds of bottles, loads of plastic barrels, several toothbrushes, 3 golf balls and a toy horse. Many other random stuff too. It's amazing how much there is. A lot of the bottles have teeth marks in too which isn't good. It's quite interesting hearing from Libby about what she does to help the local marine life. We finish at 15:30 so the whole thing lasts 8 hours from getting picked up and dropped back off at the hostel. First thing I do when I get back is have a nice long cold shower. I'm filthy and sweaty. Must have lost a lot of fluid from sweating today. After my shower I go to a nearby travel/excursion shop and boo myself onto a trip tomorrow called 'Big Fury'. I can't wait. I eats a pasta and sauce for dinner then sit in the jungley wi-fi zone for a while, conducting various exercises on my iPhone. I can't stay too long though as I'm getting bitten to death by what can only be described as Mosquitos on steroids. I manage to slap a few into my leg which splatters lots of blood on me. Is it my blood or somebody else's though? I've got a hellish collection of bites on me. I need a repellant spray desperately. Who's idea was it to stick an open wi-fi zone in the middle of a jungle? "Come and send emails and chat to loved ones whilst being attacked relentlessly by our blood hungry critters." I go for a stroll across the road and along the sea front discovering the lagoon. It's a nice place. A big outdoor swimming pool type thing. As its late though it appears to be full of loved up couples embracing each other in there. Makes me sick. I look for some stones to throw at them but as its a lagoon there's only a bit of sand and grass around. There's even a lifeguard still out by the side. I eventually reside to my room. It appears most peeps are out for the night. I have no idea what Sammie is doing tonight. I have 3 missed calls on my phone from her. Once again it's loud outside being a Saturday night so once again I use my music to help me sleep.
